Dr. Joel Schlessinger took part in a study for the use of adapelene-benzoyl peroxide combination gel for the treatment of acne vulgaris. This study, published in Cutis of August 2009, showed a significant improvement in the reduction of acne related lesion counts.

In this study, Dr. Joel Schlessinger gave participants with moderate facial acne vulgaris one-daily treatment with adapalene-benzoyl peroxide combination gel, adapalene monotherapy, benzoyl peroxide monotherapy or a gel vehicle for approximately 12 weeks. After the 12 weeks, the participants were assessed for success rate in the change of lesion count, percentage of inflammation and severity of acne.

Out of 1668 participants, the study showed a significant success rate in the adapalene-benzoyl peroxide combination gel with a significant reduction in lesion count.

In other large clinical trials, the adapalene-benzoyl peroxide combination gel has shown superior efficacy compared to other monotherapies, with early efficacy and safe results.

Dr. Joel Schlessinger completes many clinical studies a year at the Advanced Skin Research Center. To enroll in a current study, click here.
